Lake Marble Falls

Public Access

Marble Falls was founded in 1887 bu Adam R. Johnson on the bank of the Colorado River.  Prior to the dams being built, which form the Highland Lakes, water cascaded over a 20' ledge which resembled marble.   Lake Marble Falls is downstream from Lake LBJ, and upstream from Lake Travis.  Lake Marble Falls covers a surface area of 611 acres.  The maximum depth is 60 feet.

Lake Marble Falls is a controlled level lake, public water access and a boat ramp are located at Lakeside Park.  Annually, Lake Marble Falls is the site of Marble Falls Lakefest, drag boat races.  At Christmas time, along with many other Hill Country Communities, Marble Falls hosts the Walkway of Lights, along the banks of Lake Marble Falls.

Fish species include Largemouth bass, catfish and sunfish. Around the many boat houses and docks anglers have their best success fishing for largemouth bass.  The upper section of the lake is shallow, and boulder laden, if you dare in the spring you can fish for white bass on this part of the lake.

Waterfront communities along the shore of Lake Marble Falls include:

  • Meadowlakes
  • Marble Falls, Pecan Valley, and other areas
  • Cottonwood Shores
  • Waterside - a Private Luxury Home Community
