Gardening in the Texas Hill Country

Don't Fight Mother Nature....

Homeowners living in the Texas Hill Country soon learn that it's easier to work with Mother Nature when planning landscapes. Whether you are gardening in Marble Falls, Horseshoe Bay, Blue Lake, Deer Haven, Sunrise Beach, Kingsland, or Granite Shoals, it is important to select plants with tolerance for drought and deer resistance. However, be advised that the deer don't have the list of deer-resistant plants, and during times of sever drought, or when the plants are just planted, they will partake.  Plants that attract hummingbirds and butterflies can result in a beautiful landscape and provde year-round pleasure.

Xeriscape design (drough-tolerant, hardy plants) is the most pratical landscape design.  Xeriscape originates from the Greek word "xeros," which means "dry".

Pictured above is the trumpet creeper.  This is a vigerous fast growing vine, that will flower throughout the summer.

Below are selected online and print references to help you choose plants for an easy-care, custom design that can result in a beautiful yard or garden for years of pleasure.
